SELL US YOUR USED CAR NOW!

Many of us are aware of what supply chain, inflation and other market forces have done to the value of automotive vehicles. Prices on used vehicles are the highest they’ve been in many years! But all trends come and go so if you have a used vehicle in working order that you don’t want or need, the time to sell is NOW!

And if you are thinking about selling your car, I urge you to consider bringing your vehicle to me so you can sell it to our dealership, Serramonte Ford. Why sell to a dealership? The answers are simple and can really positively impact you.

You Save Time and Effort

If you market and sell your car yourself, expect to put in HOURS of work to get it done. Think about how much time it will take to post online and the fees you’ll have to pay to do so. You’ll also have to invest the time to find out what the best price is for your vehicle. Then, you have to spend additional time scheduling appointments, showing your vehicle, and allowing people to test drive it. And you can expect some “no-shows” as well. This entire process is a real pain.

There’s Less Haggling

Having to deal with potential buyers can be VERY DIFFICULT. You’re trying to get the best price you can… and the buyer is trying to get the best deal they can.  Are you prepared to negotiate the price? Are you good at it? It is extremely rare for a buyer to accept the first price you give them for your car. And, if they jump at buying at “your price” you may have priced your car too low.  Either situation means that you may end up spending more time and aggravation selling your used car. A dealership relies on commonly used tools like Kelley Blue Book and have experienced valuators who can explain why they think your car should be priced at the level they offer you.

Its Less Risky to Deal with a Dealership

Your vehicle is likely one of the higher priced things you have. This makes it a bigger target for crime. It also can be a little frightening since you will likely be dealing with complete strangers. If selling privately, you should be sure you show your vehicle and complete the sale in a highly-populated and well-lit, location. In cases of fraud, you will have to prove and deal with any fraud you experience. The time it takes to deal with this process is significant, with no guarantee of you getting back what you lost.  With an established dealership, the risk of fraud for selling your vehicle falls on them and the chances an established business with good consumer and credit ratings are miniscule.

You Have More Legal Protection at a Dealership

When you sell your vehicle and transfer the pink slip. Both you and the buyer must complete proper paperwork with the Department of Motor Vehicles. If the buyer fails to follow through correctly, you can be at risk for future legal problems. Suppose your vehicle is used in a crime? Or the vehicle is involved in an accident. If you are listed as the owner of record, you could face legal repercussions that may possibly cost you time, money and impact your reputation.  Also, if the vehicle breaks down after the sale, you could be held liable fixing the problem and/or refunding the buyer money. When you sell it to a dealership, you are generally not liable for vehicle failure after the sale is completed. On top of that, since the dealership files the title transfer documents with the DMV, you are protected from any bad acts that occur after the sale happens. Which brings us to our next point:

Say Good-bye to Managing the Paperwork

Transferring ownership of a vehicle is something you will rarely do in your lifetime unless selling cars is your business. The paperwork is complex and often confusing. You will need to deal with the title, registration, any lien that exists on the vehicle. The dealership has automated processes and experienced business office staff to handle this for you.

You Don’t Have to Wait

Inventory on all vehicles has been moving so quickly, if you have to wait until you sell your present car to buy your next one, you may 1) miss the chance to get the vehicle you want, or 2) have to sell your present car at a reduced price because you can’t wait for a reasonable offer. Come see me at Serramonte Ford. At Serramonte Ford, you can bring your vehicle in and get a check the very same day. With all the paperwork done by us!

If you need to sell (or buy) a car, van, truck or SUV, come see me and I will help you take of all the advantages we have to provide!
